AT&T bringing 2,000 outsourced jobs under its payroll

SAN ANTONIO - AT&T Inc. plans to add 2,000 previously outsourced jobs to its payroll as part of an agreement with the Communications Workers of America union, the company announced Thursday.

AT&T said it hasn't decided where to locate the 2,000 technical support jobs, which have been outsourced domestically and internationally. They will be added to the AT&T payroll by the end of 2008.

Fort Hood Soldiers Return To Central Texas Wednesday

About 160 soldiers from Fort Hood’s 57th Signal Battalion, 3rd Signal Brigade, were scheduled to return to post from Iraq late Tuesday afternoon or Tuesday evening.

Another welcome home ceremony is planned Saturday, when about 120 soldiers from the 13th Corps Support Command and the 39th Brigade Combat Team of the Arkansas National Guard return to post from Iraq.

Williamson County employment up, wages down!

According to the U.S. Department of Labor's Bureau of Labor Statistics, Williamson County's average weekly wage dropped 1.6 percent to $795 in the first quarter of 2004 compared with the same period a year ago.

COMPTROLLER'S OFFICE TO PUBLISH ANNUAL LIST OF UNCLAIMED CASH

The Texas Comptroller's Office will publish its annual list of people who have at least $100 in unclaimed cash held by the state in the Tyler Paper Sunday. The state has more than $1.1 billion in cash and property that it is trying to return.

"That is an incredible amount of forgotten money," Comptroller Carole Keeton Strayhorn, says in a "message" to Texans in the special supplement coming out in the newspaper. "It doesn't belong in a vault in Austin. Texans need that money in their pockets for their families' priorities."
