AT&T TV bill passes House
10:49PM Monday Apr 28 2008 by jazzman916
The Tennessee House overwhelming passed legislation on Monday to help AT&T and other telecommunications companies gain a statewide handhold on the cable TV market.

The vote is one of the final steps before the bill heads to the governor’s desk.

“I think we passed a good piece of legislation. It’s certainly not perfect by any means, but I think it’ll go a long way toward creating competition in this state,” said Rep. Charles Curtiss, the chairman of the House Commerce Committee who helped shepherd the bill through the House.

"Combining BellSouth's valuation status, with its lower risk capital expenditures and FTTN [fiber to the neighborhood] plans, and its leveraged opportunity in Cingular, we think it should outperform peers in 2005." Cingular is a joint venture of BellSouth and SBC Communications.
