Cogent Internet users in the Northeastern states lost service earlier this week due to a
series of problems that are amusing enough to make a sitcom out of them. First, a cable was sawed into, probably by thieves who thought that they could sell the copper. Unfortunately for them, it was a fiber cable. Then, technicians came out to replace the cut cable, which they did -- using another cable that was damaged by gunshots. So, although
the original story said that the cable had been shot, the shot cable was actually pre-damaged cable used to replace the cut cable. Of course, the users who were affected by the outages probably dont find all this to be so funny.
