RedMoon Broadband has been in the municipal Wi-Fi game for years. In fact, they launched the
first Wi-Fi city in Texas in 2005. But then the big guys came in last year and
outbid them and things have been kind of quiet on their front ever since. Now that EarthLink has disappointed Texas
users in Houston, RedMoon might have a chance for revival. The provider has
just contracted with Southlake, Texas to set up a small municipal security video system. Its a small step, but it's a step in the right direction if the company wants to get back in the municipal Wi-Fi game. Of course, Texas city consumers may have to deal with the companys
Fair Eagle ad system, especially since ad-support is a big part of working muni Wi-Fi systems.
