    Got Earthlink because it was cheap. Well, that is the only thing they got going for them. Buying technology by price is a bad idea. Learned my lesson.

    This company does not care. Service is intermittent at best. Outages are common and tech support is close to worthless. They keep blaming my router everytime i contact them. PPPOE sucks too and unlike others Earthlink will not tell you even if you ask them before signing up. They also block port 25 (SMTP) effectively preventing their customers from running a mail server. They won't tell you that either when you sign up. EVEN IF YOU SPECIFICALY ASK THEM. They wont even admit it after the fact!

    Billing is a total horror story. I made the mistake of allowing them to charge my credit card monthly. They did not charge me for June. Then they charge 2 months for July (brings me current). Now they charge me for 3 months in August. After 51 minutes on hold and after several calls and on-line chats they are telling me they never got payment for June, July and August! They are either crooks or totally incompetent. They want me to call again and stay on hold for who knows how long just so they can give me a fax number to fax my credit card statement to "PROVE" that the charges went through!

    That's it! I signed up with Speakeasy. Too soon to tell how good Speakeasy is, but their sales and tech support are in stark contrast with Earthlink! No PPPOE, straightforward plans and options and less than 10 minutes tech support hold. Both sales and tech support at Speakeasy are knowledgeable. They don't know their ars from a whole in the ground at Earthlink!
