I ordered DSL service from Cyberonic Internet Communication inc.
On December 23, 2002. Having made a follow up call on December 24, 2002
to verify my order had been received and I had provided all required information.
I received a Projected install date of January 6, 2003.

On January 6, 2003 around 7:00 pm CDT I called support to get the router configured
I was informed that someone would call me back in 1 hour. This call never
came.

On January 7, 2003 around 7:30 am CDT I called support because I had not
received a return call I was informed that it would be completed in 3 days ( January 10, 2003 ).

On January 10, 2003 around 10:00 am CDT I called to inquire about the install
At which time I was informed someone would call back in 1 hour.

On January 10, 2003 around 8:00 pm CDT I called support because I had not
received a return call. At that time I was informed that we had a confirmed install date
form the Telephone Company of January 13, 2003.

On January 13, 2003 around 9:00 am CDT I called to inquire if I needed to be home
for the install to be completed at which time I was informed that it would proceed
without entry to my home.

On January 13, 2003 around 4:00 pm CDT After requesting that I be allowed
To speak to a support the Lady who answered the phone transferred me to
someone who assured me I would Get a call in 30 to 45 min. Again this
Call was never received.

On January 14, 2003 around 8:00 am CDT I called requesting a supervisor
I was connected with "Ken" who informed me that the Telephone company
was running a little behind and that service was to be turned up on
January 20, 2003.

On January 20, 2003 around 7:45 am CDT I call to get a status
I was informed that I needed to send an email to dsl@cyberonic.com
5 hours later I received the following response:

Status of your order

You're currently on step 2/3.

Step 2 and 3 are LEC Date and Shipping Equipment. We requested the phone
company to begin your line provision. This usually takes 3-4 business days.
The DSL equipment is being shipped to you through UPS. Then we will proceed
to the LEC Commitment Date for installation. This process takes up to 5
business days.

The following is the process of your DSL ordering:

1. Line Test - Testing of the line is required for your DSL connection.
2. LEC Date - Phone Company request to begin your line provision.
3. Shipping Equipment - Requested warehouse for equipment shipment.
4. LEC Commitment Date - Phone Company has committed to an installation
date.
5. Installation - You are ready to use your DSL.

Thank you for your inquiry with Cyberonic Internet.

Now that's annoying

Wow that sure is a nightmare you've been going through. And the worst thing is they never called when they said they would. I hate it when providers lie and give you the run around. Sounds to me like there's more to it than the telco running a little behind. Hopefully you won't have to wait much longer. Good luck.

Re: Now that's annoying

The reason for the busy signals and the long hold times for tech support is because they are swamped. I called them on the evening of December 27th and the call was answered on the 2nd ring by sales who then switched me to tech support (1 minute hold time). This all changed in the first week of January when it became widely known that DirecTV was pulling the plug, after which it was taking me 45 min. to 1.5 hours to get thru to tech support. They compound the problem because they have no mechanism in-place to communicate with the customer during the initial installation phase (ie. website), and they don't respond AT ALL to emails sent to support@cyberonic.com. They rely heavily on WorldCom to troubleshoot their advanced connectivity issues. I can say from experience that once they have to call the NOC and speak to WorldCom, the connectivity issues tend to resolved fairly quickly since those guys tend to know their stuff. It will probably get better once the DirecTV dust settles. Once the connection and configurations become settled, you won't have to annoyed by calling tech support anymore. You just have to be willing to annoyed in the beginning to get all the issues resolved. I hope I never have to hear Frank Sinatra ever again (their "on-hold" music). [It was easier for me because I have a speakerphone and headset.]

CDT?

Are you actually on daylight time there in the middle of winter? Or did you mean CST? Just curious

Link light may not mean you service is up.

Even though that you may have green link light, this doesn't mean that your IP configuration on their end is fully completed. In fact the order status that you have posted shows that there is another 5 days to go.
