Update (Sunnyvale, not San Mateo) - Usenet service has been only semi-functional for the past couple of months. Today I received a notice that DSLExtreme is moving their e-mail services to Google Apps. I know Google's long history of supporting spammers and criminals through security holes and non-existent customer service. I will be closing my account.

Ordering was straightforward but finding a complete list of services was difficult. There was some install downtime because SBC is using an ADSL protocol that doesn't work on older modems. A new off-the-shelf modem fixed it.
When everything is working, DSLExtreme offers a rich set of services for a low price. You get 6016/608 ADSL, multiple mail accounts, Usenet, static IPs, great throughput, and online account management tools.
When it's not working, your life is hell. Tech support is so difficult to work with that one might thing they're playing a child's game of intentionally misinterpreting trouble tickets. Trouble tickets are never handled offline. You must be on the phone with them while the problem is being solved. A number of tickets have required several hours of phone calls when every bit of information they asked for was contained in my first e-mail to the support department. Some problems are ongoing and never resolved - large numbers of hijacked customer computers triggering spam blacklists and draining bandwidth with dictionary attacks, outdated spam filter options, and regular mail outages.
