We had TWC, and it was OK, but we didn't need the TV and Phone part of the package.... But the price for just internet was only $20 less. I looked for someone who could provide just Internet as that was all we needed. Being a fan of Leo Laporte, and hearing him promote DSL Extreme on his show was good enough for me! We signed up, they sent out Verizon to set up the dry loop. All great, we plug in the modem............. 2/10ths of a meg down! WHAT!!!!! We were paying for 1.5 megs down. We called DSL-EX and they did some line tests. To me it looked like peak time line congestion, between 3pm and 11pm it would drop to a high of .2 megs to a low of nothing. During the mornings hours we had a high of .6ths of a meg. What's interesting is we had .3 up all the time, day or night!
We call tier2 and they checked the lines and said "Yes" there is a problem, and they had Verizon come out again. Verizon changed the pairs (Blue to Orange) and we still had the same result.
.... I've erased the part where I got really mad, and will fast fwd to the part where DSL-Ex (Nick) called me. I started off by telling him, there was "NO WAY" he could make me a fan, but I was wrong! He went step by step through everything that had happened, and explained it from a very logical and straight forward way.
I'm a business owner with 10,000 new customers a year. We make mistakes, things break, employees screw up, everybody knows that.... but you are judged by how you deal with it! That's what makes a great company. This is a great company!!!
