Service: 3000/768 and GWILine Unlimited Activated: Jul 2 2004
Modem Provided: Lucent Cellpipe 22A-GX Using Modem: 2Wire 2700HGV
I switched from DirecWay (One-Way) to Adelphia HSI, then from Adelphia HSI to Prexar Business DSL. I switched from Prexar to GWI. GWI checked all 3 of my phone lines to find the shortest loop and painlessly moved my service in under a week. A call to give them my MAC address of my Linksys Router at the time was all it took to get things started.
I had some problems across that time, which they solved easily by adjusting the speed on my line card. Once GWILine became available, I upgraded immediately. Later in time I upgraded to a 2WIre 2700HGV (after using my old 2Wire Homeportal with better results than the Cellpipe they provided). Since I switched modems, I asked them to remove the speed limiter and I see around 400K/s downloads at 15000 feet. According to my diagnostic page on my modem, my line potential is around 5000/868, but I am locked at 3584/768. WELL worth the 30$ on eBay for my modem, and well worth the 78.96 (phone, DSL, taxes, and options pack included) that I pay to GWI each month.
If it weren't for GWI, the choices would be suffering with the Cable Co or Verizon DSL. Verizon won't even sell 3000/768 service here, their max limit is around 11000 feet.
When they come out with a new DSL technology, I'm sure GWI will upgrade to the latest technology then too. In the meantime, I'm quite happy with my service.
