UPDATE --- CT tech support is a joke. a sad and unhumorus joke. connection issues, dead modem no lights, and of all the tecs (4 to be exact) and (4 managers) NONE and i mean NONE did a lick of tech support. all i was told is a new modem will be over nighted out to you, well a week later and still no new modem... I hade to rant and rave until they would call the local CO (centeral office) to have a tech sent to my home, and wow it was a bad eletrical plug in modem was fine, fixed in 5 minnutes. Now the sad thing is i work for another Telco and am a Custoimer service manager, we would can people for all of this no tech support

crap. guess when they call and gripe at us for the general tech support of power cycling and trying a different outlet i will fondly remember what good it does and laugh at what good CT isnt.. i cant wait until my contract is up 5 months to go and then i am off to a new ISP... for the worth of it, if your thinking of choosing CT then look at other providers of the same service in your area might be worth it to do more shopping around...

Presales gave me a service Ph# in a city 100 miles away, stretched out the order

and was caught by the P.O.T.s repair. He fixed the number issue and got my up and running correctly in one day. If you order services here, really check and recheck your services. Had Qwest DSL and I pay more now for less. Not that Qwest was great but it was way better than CenturyTel has been. Speed is no better and Company email is difficult to access. Not really happy with this new company. And the modem they sent for services is really basic, now I have to shell out more money for a wireless router that was standard for Qwest. Services work but just expensive.

    What???

and wow it was a bad eletrical plug in modem was fine, fixed in 5 minnutes.

What is that about? Are you saying there was a bad electrical outlet in your home and that's why the modem didn't work? Or are you trying to say that the plug where the power supply goes into the modem was bad? It would help before doing all of your ranting and raving if you would slow down and explain the situation. I'm not a great fan of CenturyTel but if you really work for another Telco company as a manager of CS you should at least know to try another electrical outlet that's common sense. If it was the plug going into the modem I completely agree they should have tried some troubleshooting.

    Re: What???

All i can say too is What? You're just plain funny, was it your fault all along or what? and you are a customer service manager. The Only thing i don't like with Centurytel is their pricing policy but what can i do? My choices are C-Tel, Satellite or DialUp so i have the lesser of the evils and have had Dsl with them for over 2 years and no major complaint with them.Wish however i had some more to pick from though as 49.95 plus taxes and fees is waay to much for 1500/256

    Re: What???

I would try to give them a call and see if they will lower your price to $29.99 that's what they have it for now. At first when I called to get my price lowered they said I would have to sign another one year contract and I complained enough and they gave me the new subscriber price without extending my contract. Good luck though talking to CenturyTel CS is like pulling teeth.

    plug in

a modem plug in is the cord that is supplied with the modem, i did try a different outlet. maybe i need to explain further it was the black plug in that is provided with the modem. in fact i was given a back up from a line tech who came to my door and that one went bad too, so far i am on my third cord and yes it is on a power strip with a breaker. as for your dsl provider, you have options of many providers, check to see your availability, your not just limited to CTel for services.
