(ratings above consensus)

I ordered the CenturyLink Prism Premium TV and Internet package and the install was scheduled for a week later. The outside plant completed the provisioning of the cable pairs two days prior, and the install was completed in about 3 hours. Once the installed turned on the Cisco DDR-2200 ADSL Router and the Set Top Box, the TV came right up with all channels accounted for. The internet was a bit more difficult. The internet didn't work and the first call to Tech Support had the reason that the order was still pending and would be completed by 5:00pm PDT. A call to them at 8:00pm that evening still showed the order as pending but I was told that it would be completed by the end of the night. The next morning, still no internet, but the tech I spoke with checked further and found that the circuit was not provisioned correctly. A half hour later, conference calls, and a reboot, the internet was active.

I am getting 9megs down, 768k up. Not quite the 10meg promised, but it does seem to be pretty reliable at any time.

The TV picture is really sharp (after I configured the STB for 1080i output).

So far I am happy. Lets see what happens in a few months as more people subscribe to the service. And no, I am not a CenturyLink employee, I am a retired Army vet that worked communications and computers for the military.

Prism Tv

Prism Tv for me has been a huge mistake. I was suckered in by CenturyLink door to door salespeople showing me what a great savings it would be to switch from DirectTv to Prism. The reality is it's really not much cheaper after they add all their taxes that DirectTv doesn't have (not to mention the price increase I was just notified of). The picture quality doesn't compare to DirectTv. The HD access is a joke compared to DirectTv and did I mention the price increase??? I now count the days until my commitment is over so I can return to DirectTv. Do not be suckered like I was. Stay away from CenturyLink Prism Tv.

Cox, DirectTV or Prism

I'm considering the change from Cox to CenturyLink Prism, Internet and Phone in Las Vegas. Anyone out there from Las Vegas (Centennial Hills/Tule Spring area), I'd like to hear the pros & cons. I don't want to be tied into a multi year contract when they still have a lot of problems to fix. Might also consider DirectTV instead of Prism (with CentryLink internet and phone.) Would love to hear your comments. Thanks in advance.
