Ameritech.net - My service just came up after being down for 3 days! Called numerous times to tech support who were technically incompetent, especially in router configurations ( I have a Cabletron Flowpoint SR255 switch/Router). I would telnet into the router and with various line commands and am able to determine the remote status. For instance, typing, "IPROUTES" would show the status of the ameritech.net interface at the DSLAM. Well, when I tell tech support that the router reports that the interface is down, they tell me to do something ridiculous like re-boot the router or type IPCONFIG at the command prompt! I tell them I know what I'm doing - this is what I do for a living, configuring routers and maintaining complex networks. I ask to please be forwarded to a person who is knowledgeable in router configurations and they tell me there's nobody - BULL!!!! As it turns out, the interface was indeed down at the CO and I later discovered that they were doing a router upgrade. I called customer support to ask for credit for 3 days of downtime - no dice - "We do not pro-rate". All in all, I'm very disappointed in their tech support.
