We've been using Videotron cable internet at home since 2001. It has been very reliable since, besides one week each of issues for two defective modems, years apart. We've been on 30Mbit/s service for the past two years or so, service has been really fast and 99%+ reliability. With the modem and router on a UPS, we will usually have service until the batteries run out when there is a power outage (3+ hours)! At 30Mbit/s, even in 2012, there are often sites where the upload is not fast enough to fill the pipe, so it's not always faster. Problem is with the websites, of course. Overall very satisfied with service, download speeds are nice, 2Mbit upload is kinda weak though. Price is high but still overall a good choice at the time. With the new CRTC rates we're looking to go for something else, cable is 15$ or more cheaper elsewhere at resellers in Quebec. ----- Update December 2012 Still working good, upload has been raised to 1Mbit this autumn. No reliability problems whatsoever, still satisfied. member for 12.4 years, 1897 visits, last login: 9 days ago updated 9.6 years ago |
