I was previously with another ISP who provided phenomenal service except for the billing department. Thus, I tried to get a 2nd ISP installed but since it was a Bell line and my building had wiring issues (I live in an apartment on the 2nd floor) they could not give me service. Finally, frustrated and desperate for some service I called Videotron.

They listened to my story and offered me an initial installation date for the 5th of October. I informed them that this was too long of a delay and asked for something sooner. They quickly found me an installation date for Friday the 28th of September. I had called them on Tuesday the 25th.

Installation was a piece of cake since I already had the coax cable from my previous ISP. They hooked it up outside, installed the modem and let OSPF converge my routes and BAM.

The best thing about Videotron is the speed. I subscribed to TGV15 and average close to 20Mbpsds + 2Mbps us. By far the worst thing about Videotron is that they hide routes from you (see traceroute below) and are very secretive about the inside of "their" network.

If you don't need to deal with their technical support often and are comfortable trouleshooting your own issues such as packet loss, latency, jitter, etc then Videotron is definitely for you!
