I waited long to have RR available in the area. When it was eventually available Time Warner Cable took one week to come install the cable modem which was pretty good. I guess I was in the first.
The installation went rather badly since they had to bring three modems before getting the good one for the area. After the first 1/2 hour waiting the technician went away, leaving the cable guy alone and I had to set the modem connection myself when I eventually got the good modem after a 3 hour delay. I wonder how someone who knows nothing would have done. But well, it worked.
The good side of that is TWC gave me one month free for the disturbance.
The connection is reliable since I had only one day down (not even the whole day) since I have it (5 month).
I have a static IP and I use a linksys router to run 3 PCs behind. Not any problems even if RR tech support says it doesnt support routers.
I had experienced Telocity before (a nightmare) and I m really a happy user now with RR.
I use my cable mainly to play online and I run an average 90 ms ping on West Coast server and a damn good 14 ms ping on East coast server.
I have had troubles with my connection to some game servers of ea.com and above.network, and the tech support was pretty good after I reached a level 3 technician.
Update:
With time and area getting Road Runner, the connection has been getting worse and worse to reach hell. Packet loss, high pings, and TWC tech support is inefficient to fix the problem.

After experiencing a whole year of problem, my connection has now become more reliable. Recently RR increased the DL speed to 3 Meg and it is really good.
Update:
I moved to Harlem in 2006. Service was still good. With more and more people getting HD TV TV quality is going down the drain very fast. I experienced several TV outage and the signal is regularly unstable.
High Speed Internet is reliable but at peak time bandwidth is seriously affected and speed is often getting low.
