I already had cable modem service from Time Warner with Earthlink as my ISP. My employer started paying for broadband internet for certain employees, but for them to pay for cable modem the ISP had to be Road Runner (I guess they get some bulk discount or something). My employer took care of ordering the switchover for me. The only hitch was that a guy at Time Warner told me that my username and password for Road Runner would be the same as what I had for Earthlink. WRONG! I can't really blame him though, because I think he was more of a sales person than a tech person. Once he hooked me up with a tech person everything got straightened out right away. The actual switchover of the ISP went almost unnoticed. There was just a VERY brief outage when my IP address changed from an Earthlink address to a Road Runner address. The only other problem I had was with Earthlink. Apparently their system is setup to automatically keep a customer's account open and switch it to unlimited dialup when they get the cancel on the cable modem from Time Warner. Nobody told me about this, and I didn't know it until I got an invoice in the mail from Earthlink for unlimited dialup from Feb. 29 thru Mar. 30. I called Earthlink and got everything straightened out, and they told me I didn't have to pay the invoice. I use VoIP AT&T CallVantage, and have no problems with it working over Road Runner. Everything is working great!
