well the the rest of my family moved up to Charlotte NC, and i was incharge of setting up the internet. 2 options, bellsouth dsl, or Time warner cable.
Having been a customer of Adelphia and liking the cable expeirence and looking around this site for the past 2 years, ive decided to go with time warner. i really wanted to go with cyberonic but my parents decided 60 dollars was too much for internet access. Anyway the install was horrid. this is an old house we got here and the original lines were shot, so they ran new lines from the cable box which was about 80 feet away from the house. needless to say the college student doing the install used the least amount of cable possible, so if u go back to the wooded area you might get clotheslined by our cable wire. After that only channels 1-30 came in clear the rest to fuzzy. it seemed the line laid in the house 15 years ago was shot. so few days latter they came back out got in the crawl space and had to install the new line. I feel real bad for the guy who had to do it, as this is a very large house and he had to go threw this very small crawl space for a long period of time. needless to say he laid the wire and was about to hook it up to the outside calbe leading to the cable box. after half an hour of him trying to drill threw the foundation of the house he gave up. (i was sitting upstairs listening to the drill go on and on. i found it kind of humorous.) i came down and told him why dont we just go threw the same hole the original cable went threw? hes like o good idea. did that and acted like he did me a big favor since he hooked the cable modem up off the first split, saying your lucky i gave the modem its own direct line. (o wow thats what your supposed to do buddy so the modem has a strong signal.) Anyway hooked it all up and loaded crap on the computer, Now i got some stupid little roadrunner bird mouse pad and the same little road runner bird on my IE webpage thing were the windows logo was then the globe turned, well yeah now thats a the head of the roard runner guy from the cartoon. cute but not to proffessional. Anywho ive been using the wireless aspect of the lynksys thing on the laptop for the past few days. I havent had it long enough to tell you about relaiability but so far its been good. speeds are about 2300/350. pings are superb with 20ms to google and very favorable everywhere else. i dont use there e-mail and havent called tech support so i cant tell you all about that. Im not staying here so i wont be able to do another post review on this, as im going back to boyton beach to start college. Anyway Road Runner is a great service, and so is Adelphia. Both i beleive are better than BS.
Update
service has been great. very few disconnects the past few years and low ping to most servers. The download speed could be better as i see 2mbit to 3mbit downloads. but for the most part it does great for what i need
