So far smooth ride for RoadRunner Cable. I’ve been a happy customer since 2001. Back then it was 3.0 Megabit down, 384 Kilobit up. It's now been upgraded without additional fees to 5.0 Megabit down, same upload. This translates to about 600KB/s down and 40KB/s up (sustained).

The installation went without a hitch, I already had existing cable lines installed by Time Warner for cable TV so the installer just added a bigger splitter/high-pass filter and routed a new line outside the house. The installer installed the line in a professional manner, nothing is left dangling or whatnot, and it is very secure - exactly what I expect from a very experienced cable TV provider.

I recently upgraded the original service to just cable internet to the triple package (digital TV, VoIP and Cable internet). All three services operate seamlessly. Pings are not affected at all during use of VoIP, and more than enough channels I can flip to for dTV.

Line quality is great, bandwidth and pings do not fluctuate at anytime during the day. Pair your connection with a QoS router (i.e., »us.zyxel.com/web/product_family_···A2006022) and you can even download at near maximum speeds while gaming with 20-30ms pings.

Bandwidth is not throttled for p2p and is unlimited, great for those who like to download large amounts of files without having to worry about paying more. My family likes to download their anime torrents everyday and this ISP hasn't let us down yet.

If you do get the VoIP package, it allows you to keep your current phone # and does come with call waiting. The touchstone telephony modem supplied can handle data and voice simultaneously and has excellent QoS prioritizing the VoIP function over data.

Overall, if you like to game, download large files or talk; you should consider RoadRunner as your ISP. RoadRunner offers multiple types of packages to fit your needs.

    UPDATE 12/1/06

TWC Road Runner officially upgraded my area to 7Mdown/512Kup back in August, then again in late November at 10M down/512K up. Upload needs to be upped to 1Mb/s up but I'm not complaining.

    UPDATE 4/25/09

I noticed a few HD channels were glitchy/jittery all of a sudden on 4/20/09. TWC promptly sent a tech today. He determined the cable drop from the pole to the side of the house was bad. He rewired the whole drop without a cent out of my pocket. All HD channels are now crystal clear around the house. The whole process from diagnosing to him finishing final checks took about an hour. That's great service in my book.
