I just had TWC (former Adelphia area) RoadRunner cable Internet installed two days ago. Installation was a breeze. The installer did the short cabling to the modem (Surfboard 5105) and then we connected it to a single computer. Installer had to call to get it activated and a few seconds later we were online. As soon as he left I connected the Surfboard 5105 to router, adjusted my QOS settings in Tomato for the higher available bandwidth, and I was ready to go.

I'm coming from Verizon 768/128 DSL so I'm really impressed with the speed from RoadRunner. Seems like I can get around 4500Kbps download and 450Kbps upload. And even with some heavy traffic I can still average less than a 100ms average ping time to my VOIP provider so my phone calls still sound great.

I'm crossing my fingers that reliability will be great and I'll continue to be happy with this service.

This is costing me $29 for the first 6 months. It looks like they just began to offer a 1.5Mb down and 384Kbps up product at $34.95 per month so I may switch to that after the promo. The great thing about cable though is that you can cancel at anytime without any penalty.

Or maybe I won't switch to their 1.5/384 service after my promo is up, I'm enjoying this faster service so much it will be difficult to go back to something slower.

I did end up downgrading to the 1.5/384 service several months ago. I was paying between $20 and $25 for that service. But I recently decided to cancel service with RoadRunner. Compared to DSL, there have been too many outages with RoadRunner Cable Internet. And they usually last a lot longer than DSL outages. For example a couple of days ago I was down from the morning when I woke until about 7PM at night. Frustrating. Back to DSL for me.

From your speed test it seems like you may be getting the 5/384 standard speeds not RR Lite

    speed

Yes , it was the lite package. I have the 7Mb/512 now. It was only getting 3.5/256. Had a tech came out, replaced the modem and fixed the line. Now im getting 6.6/500. Works great and now im thinking for an extra 10 a month, upgrading to 15/786
