I started with Adelphia HSI back about 2 years ago. The system ran fine up until 9/2006. At that point, we started having intermittent hangs. The hang could be described as a lack of inbound data every 5-7 minutes which lasted about 5-10 seconds. Typically this isn't a noticeable problem for the average surfer, but I use VOIP. It's extremely annoying when on a telephone call and the audio cuts out for 5-10 seconds every 5 minutes.
I contacted Time Warner Cable to let them know about this problem. They proceeded to say that everything looked OK on their end, so they sent a tech out.
The tech came out and inspected the lines and everything and told me that my numbers look great. I asked him what the problem was, and he told me that they have lots of problems with the "old Adelphia equipment" and that they were working on fixing it.
The problem persisted after he left and I just put up with it. When I called back in a month or so later, the tech told me over the phone that the problem was still on my end and that their system had been fixed. I found that doubtful because the symptoms were exactly the same, but my hands were tied.
I purchased a new cable modem from Best Buy to see if that was the problem, but alas that did not fix it. I also purchased 2 new (different types) of routers to no avail.
Fast forward 6 months later to March. We are still having this problem, but instead of a 5-10 second drop every 5-7 minutes, it is now a 5-10 second drop every 1-2 minutes.
I spoke with 5 people at TWC in the past few days and the second one actually acknowledged that he noticed the problem was on their end. He opened a ticket and gave me a number. I called back the following day to check on that ticket. Unfortunately it had been tagged as fixed... The problem was not. They wanted to open up another ticket... They lost that one the next day.
I got so frustrated with these guys that I just cancelled.

| Same issue I'm having the exact same issue with these people. (Zip: 91786)
First I started with Adelphia, which was bought by Time Warner Cable... which now became Roarrunner.
Over the past few months, I've been getting packet loss about every 1 or 2 minutes. On some days it is perfectly fine, but this problem has reappeared in the past few days.
Calling technical support was not even worth my time.
My contract is finished, and I am going to cancel this service and go with DSL. (Sure, its slower, but I'm hoping it will actually be a little MORE RELIABLE).

| Re: Same issue What service would you have with TWC that is a contract?
All of TWC services are month to month except Business Class. And from what I remember Adelphia did not offer a business class service.
Edit Add- TWC customers had the same issue. It was caused in this area when the systems were in the process of being merged. A lot of it was caused by Adelphia operating on a totally different system than TWC and the areas are slowly being moved to the standardized system of TWC.
But if you think that the problem is on your end wouldn't you first go to Time Warner and used a leased modem which is FREE and give it a shot instead of being stuck with a modem that you are not going to use? And TWC suggests using their equipment other wise if you own the modem their tech support stops at the actual line if the line is fine the line is fine. Also give Tier 3 a call. You can get to them by asking the Call Center for Tier 3.

| Same thing here I've been having the same problem here. I live in Southern California and notice that some days my internet will be fine, but most of the time my internet will cut out for 30 seconds plus until I unplug and plug back in my modem. After that, my internet will be fine for a while, but I haven't found a fix for the internet cutting out yet and it is getting beyond frustrating. | |
