Update 3/8/08
I cancelled my Time Warner Cable service. They raised the rates, took away my promotion. I now have Verizon DSL, Verizon Home Phone, and Directv. The only thing I kept was the RoadRunner. I am only keeping for 1 month to see if my DSL works out to be ok. Will be giving and update on DSL shortly. I do not recommend Time Warner. They are nothing but a money sucking monoply.
Update 9/21/07
My RoadRunner, My Digital Cable, and My Digital Phone has been working great with no problems. However the equipment that Time Warner supplies is garbage i had to return 3 standard boxes, and 4 dvrs until they gave me new equipment. The RoadRunner now is 20/5 with more possible speed increases. Will update again in a few weeks.
Update 8/30/07
Haven't updated my review in 60 days so I am doing it now. My Cable, Phone, and RoadRunner are still working with no problems! Highly recommend Time Warner Cable to anyone in the Western new York area, or any other area that is serviced by Time Warner. Time Warner beats Comcast, Verizon FiOS, and any other provider. My RoadRunner speeds are still at the 15mg/2mg, however Time Warner says that the speeds will be increasing in a short time. Way to go Time Warner Keep up the Excellent work! By the way I do not work for Time Warner, or any independent contractor for them. I work for the Federal Government.
Update 6/30/07
Once again RoadRunner polls through. I was on the Turbo, and still am. Original speed was 6/768, and then Time Warner Cable increased it to 7/768. TWC has once again increased the speed to 15mg/2mg. Cable is excellent, and Digital Phone is also great. No Problems with TWC. Keep up the outstanding work Time Warner Cable.
Update 6/2/07:
Still loving the RoadRunner service, my speed was increased from the 6.0 to the new rr speeds of 7.0 for download. Still think that Time Warner Cable will put Verizon out of business as soon as the phone launches in Western NY. Time Warner was out here the other day, and gave us a new RCA Cable/Wireless combo modem works excellent. Two computers hooked up, and 1 wireless laptop. IF YOU CAN GET ROADRUNNER GET IT!!!!!! Everything is offically TWC, not that old Adelphia. Cable/Internet has improved.
Original Review:
I had everything with Adelphia before, however switch to try Directv/DSL not worth it please read on.
I was just migrated over to the RoadRunner network from the old Adelphia system. Adelphia service was great my speeds were 4.5 or above for the standard package, now Im gettin 5.7 for download, and this is for premier, however they promise 6.0.
My other options for Internet are Verizon DSL, or Satellite, which I would never try again due to weather conditions, and DSL is just to slow, and I prefer cable. I am paying 126.98 for Internet/Cable This includes RoadRunner Premier, and 4 dvrs with all 350 channels, and all 4 movie premiums for 1 yr. The sales reps need to have more respect for potential customers because they are rude, and uncaring.
The modem fisrt supplied was a Motorola Surfboard 5101, that no longer worked to it to local office gave me an RCA that had problems, Tech came out says it is wiring never ran wiring, gave me another modem, and finally I had to go to a new local office where they gave me another 5101, tech just came out yestorday swaped modem gave me a 5100, i dont believe there is much difference.
The experience with Adelphia/Time Warner has been good, overall i would recommend there cable, and internet, and phone to anyone it beats Verizon, and Satellite. Time Warner/Adelphia has been very reliabe with trying to fix the issues, and their Tech Support could be better though all they say if reset modem, i will send signal out, or it is my computer.
I suggest anyone that can get RoadRunner, or any cable service sign up get rid of Satellite/DSL you will be amazed well worth the price. One other detail, people get pissed because Time Warner lowered speeds at tap which is equal to at least 2 seconds not a huge deal i aint going anywhere, and also when the migration occured 2 weeks ago Buffalo area was also pissed because connection was down/up, and speeds slow what do you expect from old network(adelphia) to new more advanced (RoadRunner) not always 100% expect to have problems during the migration.
RoadRunner is 100x better than Verizon FiOS. Verizon is just wasting millions of dollars when eventually Time Warner Cable will put the out of business!!!!!!!
