Setting up the initial service went pretty smooth, but the salesperson on the phone didn't readily offer anything close to the best price that they have. They have to be working on commission, as it's the same way with Time Warner's other services. The install guy was cool.
I had one problem in about 2 years with RoadRunner: I live in a big apt, and one of their install techs split a line too many ways when installing TV service for another tenant. They had the problem fixed in about 2 or 3 days. It wasn't even a full service outage, just very slow DL and UL speeds (600k down and 50k up).
I'm mainly satisfied with RR because it doesn't require a land telephone line like DSL, so I can select from any VOIP provider that I choose for my home tele line. At about $35/mo, it's a competitive price, but every 12 months I need to provide a new excuse for them to extend the deal...
...I am fairly **edited, see below*** w/ RR's upload speed. I WAS getting about 360k up, and I don't understand why it can't be much higher. People upload big files, nowadays!!!
DL speeds are great. I'm getting about 5-6M down consistently. I'd like to see service price go down to about $30 when Verizon FIOS and ATT's U-Verse is added to our area. Currently, the only competition to RR in our area is Yahoo DSL.
UPDATE: 8-3-2007!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well, both UL and DL speeds were increased overnight, and thanks to an observant poster on the dslreports RR forum, I've confirmed this about 2 minutes ago. RR has just earned a few extra stars on the ratings scale!
Current DL: 7 Megs down Current UL: 512k up
