Update 8 May 2009 - service continues to be reliable and speeds are usually good. Recent talk about consumption based billing in our market (Rochester) has me exploring alternatives to all the services I currently obtain from Time Warner Cable. I continue to monitor our usage and we would currently be under the proposed cap for the tier we have. If we started to download online music or video content, which we do not do now, I can imagine we might exceed the proposed cap. Any overage charges at $1/GB would be unacceptable.
Update 29 September 2008 - my work and leisure interests require that I use the internet pretty much all day everyday. Our Time Warner services (internet, phone and cable TV) were installed about 8 months ago and have been satisfactory so far. Power Boost has been installed in our area and in some tests has doubled my advertised Turbo speed of 15mbps. We are not heavy file downloaders but with all the recent talk about usage caps, I have started to monitor my usage. Both of the last two months we have used a bit more than 10GB. A usage cap would not be welcome here but since not yet imposed is something we can worry about later.
Competent and personable installer was on-time for installation of RoadRunner, digital cable and digital phone at our vacation home. Total install time for all three products less than 1.5 hours. Opted for RoadRunner Turbo. An initial speed test recorded about 14.5mbps down and near 1mbps upload. Satisfactory for now but some forum participants in my geographic area are reporting slow connections. Will wait and see my long term results
