In my area the only tv choices are: 1. Broadcasts (6 channels), 2. Time Warner, 3. Satellite (Direct tv and Dish)
Choices of internet: 1. Time Warner, 2. Verizon, 3. Dial up (laughs)
Time Warner's idea of bandwidth division is everything is actually one speed. I had the top tier @ 15Mbps down (and got 3Mbps avg.) Dropped down to "Standard" @ 7Mbps ( and got 3Mbps avg.) After dealing with about two years of this problem I dropped to the next level, I believe it is called "Lite" @ 1.5Mbps, and low and behold, I get almost 1.5 every time. It is amazing that Time Warner can get away with this.
To top it all of the cable is mediocre at best as it cuts out frequently and picture quality is poor. However, they are changing their channels around and adding more HDTV content. The HDTV content is pretty good. That is the only plus to TWC. The HDTV is not that much more and alot is thrown in with the digital cable.
Only other viable option for internet is Verizon and I don't think they are much better as we don't have Fios yet. When we do, I wont care if it is a little more money, I will never go back to Time Warner again!
