"Extremely reliable and get full advertised speed any time of day."
"7/512 package is poor compared to FIOS packages, and Brighthouse has chosen NOT to compete."
"I have not switched to FIOS becuase RR has no annual contract, and it's been so remarkably reliable."

I have RR, FIOS, and several 3rd party DSL providers to choose from. I've stayed with RR since early 2002 because their prices have never gone up (unlike FIOS which has had 2 double-digit price increases in the past year) and the connection never misses a beat. I could get 10/2 FIOS for the same price as 7/512 Road Runner, or 20/5 or 20/20 for just a few dollars more. Road Runner used to always one-up Verizon DSL. When DSL raised the standard tier from 768k to 1.5 Mbps, Road Runner bumped their 2 Mbps service to 3 Mbps for free. DSL then went to 3 Mbps, so RR went to 5 Mbps. Then DSL took a price reduction, so RR went to 7 Mbps, and still no price increase. In other words, RR was always a better value by-far. Now that FIOS has come to town, however, Brighthouse has given up trying to compete. They could at least make the standard RR tier 10/1, but they reserve 10/1 for digital (not analog) cable subscribers only. If you have analog cable, or are an internet-only account, you cannot get 10/1. Period. They also offer 15/2 but you must be a digital cable AND digital phone subscriber. So the bottom line is, BH could at least get *somewhat* competitive with FIOS (emphasis on 'somewhat') but they force you into their double-play or triple-play packages to get it. Stupid, stupid, stupid. Of the 21 houses on our street, 19 (no joke) have now switched to FIOS. If the rest of the Tampa Bay area is like our neighborhood, Brighthouse must be hemorrhaging subscribers like crazy. On the good side, now that so many people have seemingly jumped ship (probably all the heavy downloaders switched) to FIOS, my RR connection-- which used to slow down during peak hours, nothing major, but definitely noticeable-- now flat-lines at the full 7 Mbps anytime of day or night. Feels like I have the network all to myself.
