    My Other Reviews·Verizon Online DSL
RoadRunner Turbo 15000/768 service was ordered on Feb 27 2008 after receiving advertisements in the mail. Service for my specific location didn't go live until March 03, so the original install appointment was set back a few days (sales office was not aware of the multi-phase roll-out).

The installer (3rd party contractor) arrived on a schedule and had the new line ran from utility pole in under 1 hour. The supplied modem (Motorola SB5101) appeared to be provisioned already for the standard 7000kbps, but a short call made by the installer and a modem reboot corrected it to the proper 15000 kbps "Turbo" package. After confirming working internet and checking the modem's signal stats, the tech handed me a "RoadRunner Welcome Kit" and left. I'm not sure what exactly is on the kit's CD as it was not needed to configure email or any other services.

Being able to create/retrieve my email without installing software/calling support was a welcome change from my previous ISPs. The activation website provided with the welcome kit had a link to retreive my master email username, and email server addresses are easily found on RR.com's help page. The site did have an ActiveX powered automated setup for email, but its not needed to retrieve the assigned email address/username and password.

The service itself has been great over the 2 months I've had it. Speed is freqently above the advertised 15000/768, sometimes approaching 25000kbps downstream. Of course, most websites/servers don't even come close to allowing this much bandwidth to be used, but it does allow for multiple high speed downloads that do not degrade other internet activity (VoIP apps, games, browsing). The only minor issue I've had is very brief (15-30 sec max) connection interruptions late Sunday/Mondy night (12:00-2:00am). This is only a minor annoyance that can interrupt games or VoIP/IM conversations. I assume it is maintenance/server reboots/etc as it is only happens during this day/time. There have not been any outages or noticable slowdowns outside of this time. Overall, I am very satisfied with RoadRunner Turbo.
