Since day 1 i have had problems. First when they came to install the work order showed the wrong apartment number on it, so they wouldn't install my cable or hsi. So i had to call in and for the 3rd time tell them the correct apartment number. the CSR that i had talked to had the "contractors" come back out and do the install for me. but everyday when i go online during the daytime my speeds seem to be slugish sometimes almost like a snail at times. which i don't mind to much as i mostly use the internet at night for gaming and watching streamed video. These contractors that came out do need more training on installs. As they never checked the signals and just wanted to hook my t.v. up to coaxil cable. instead of the RCA cables i had in place. ( side note picture and sound quality are better with the RCA cables then with coaxil ) the cable box i had received was a banged up used Motorola that doesn't even support S-video. If Time Warner wants to impress new customers they should issue new cable boxes to new customers. Found something out recently. TWC/RR is only operating in DOCSIS 1.1 in my area which is not a good thing, Granted DOCSIS 1.1 is ok for the time being but to me it's still out dated.
*Update*
TWC/RR just upped the speeds they offer for the standard and and Turbo packages. They would not upgrade me to the newer 15/2 Turbo which is the same price as i was paying. claiming i was 33 days past due which i am not that far behind. i had just paid my bill eariler in the week and if i was that far behind i would not have service. Personally with me being stuck now on the 10/1 former Turbo tier which is now the standard tier which is about $10 cheaper. is nothign more then a rip off done by TWC/RR or the CSR i talked to online was not fully trained or something;. If i could switch to a diffrent ISP i would do so in a heart beat. also i have noticed of late that my cable t.v. has been going from a color picture to a black and white picture. they tried to tell me it was my t.v. pfft i have a digital converter box i use for work and brought it home and didn't have the issue at all but when i hooked TWC cable box back up wouldn't you know after 2 hours the picture went to black and white.

| Follow Up I should also add that when they installed my cable box, they installed a banged up used junkie looking Motorola. As for the cable modem they installed a Ambit. I never liked the Ambits as i had to replace 2 of them with in a years time. friends and family also had to replace theirs as well. | |

1 edit | Useless report, inaccurate, vague, not to the point Grammar
1. 'Then' and 'than' have different meanings. 2. Coaxil is not a type of cable, Coaxial is.
Review
1. Being behind your payment is considered to be behind your payment, TWC billing computers don't lie. 2. Being behind your payment is reason enough to deny you of any upgrades. 3. One reason to not being able to switch to other ISPs is because of bad credit. Being behind your payment is one of the reasons of getting bad credit. 4. If you don't like your STB then get another one from your TWC office. I'm sure they will be happy to assist you with this 'problem' providing that you are not behind your payment. 5. I seriously doubt that TWC is responsible for the black/white problem. 6. DOCSIS1.1 does the job fine but granted I would like to see DOSCSIS3.0 implemented in ALL MARKETS.

| Re: Useless report, inaccurate, vague, not to the point holy crap.. i am not behind on my payment. my next payment is not due yet... my only other option is AT&T and where i am located the speeds are far less then what they advertise. my credit is good enough to get something else, just that AT&T's service is not that great. also how is the black and white not TWC's problem. it is if there cable box is not working correctly. like i said if i can hook up a OTA digital converter box using the same cables as the cable box and the picture is in colors then what else would be the problem. i know it's not the t.v. something tells me your a CSR of TWC . | |

Are you using component cables? If so check that the red component cable is tight and fully inserted on both ends...
Often those component cables are heavy (especially if longer than 3-4 feet) and the red (usually because it's on the end of the component jack set) seems to work itself out after a while if the cable is unsupported.
If you're using coax, composite, s-video, DVI, or HDMI, then it's possible the box is bad.... maybe an overheating issue.

| Re: Useless report, inaccurate, vague, not to the point i'm using the RCA cables. i have tried the OTA digital box and had a color picture. also when the picture goes black and white the T.V.'s onscreen menu is in color, But the onscreen menu from the cable box will be in black and white. which is why i think the box is bad. when i had TWC installed the box they installed was a dented scratched up box. | |

What flavor of RCA cables?
composite (yellow video, red audio, white audio) or component (blue Pb video, green Y video, red Pr video, white audio, red audio)?
If composite, swap the box at the local office. If component, check the connections.

1 edit | reply back to you on being able to exchange box If you are behind on your bill, you are still able to swap your box. You just can't upgrade any of your service's. If you had just paid your bill, it may not be credited to your account yet, so give it a few days....And yes I did formerly work for twc. Ileft on good terms as i moved out of the state. wheter or not you agree with what the csr said, you can always go into the office and swap your cable box!

| Re: reply back to you on being able to exchange box gamer31 thanks for the info.. i should of mentioned that i had called in to have the tech come out cause of the cable box issue i am having, and that it was the CSR over the phone line. Also the thing is i was able to change my channel line up. but i wasn't able to do anything about my internet. | |
