I got a promotion in my job which required me to move. So I moved from Azusa to North Hollywood,CA. I went from Verizon DSL to TWC. I did consider ATT the only pots company offering ADSL. They were only offering 1.5M. I do remote desktop work sometimes so I need more speed and bandwith. The cable company was giving a special that month. TV and HSI 8M/1M at a decent price. I called the 800 number. I talked to a rep. in Plano TX. She and I got along well. We got to talking about I used to living in Irving awhile back. I asked her about the horror stories about speed fluctuations. She was honest about it. I figured I would try it since I had no experience in cable HSI. The installation was good by a subcontractor. I had a +9 signal strength. Plenty for both systems. There was a glitch were the splitter did not have enough to pass enough return to the headend. It ws replaced and the MAC number called in. Shortly the signal locked on and my machine put up the companies home page. I was in business with a tereyon modem.( motorola bought tereyon) Just recently they sent a mailer saying they were upgrading to 10M/1M at no increase in price but I would be moving to a new node. With a new IP it resolves to some place in Monrovia. I guess good luck comes to those that wait patiently. All my speed tests have been above average. Both from DSL and Testmynet. I think that the competition with the other companies is good for the customers. They have to do better or lose customers. There is no margin in this economy for wasteful spending.By the way I do use ATT for pots it is less expensive than TWC phone. Update 3/26/13 I have been updated again to 15/1. Changed to Cisco modem. Got rid of ATT POTS in favor of Verizon Wireless. Less money and added portability. Reliability of Broadband still BLAH!! Wish that all that up and down would even out. 20 then 11 then 8 then 25 is annoying! How about smooth 15 then 14 then 16 then 15. Jitter is crummy! Packet loss is much improved. Now 0(Zero).Have tried Clear Wireless. Nothing to be excited about.Wish they would finish deal so I don't have to hear about it! Roadrunner service is about the same. But I am in a major metro area so things are maintained or you have hundreds of thousands of people Pissed off. Don't like having to have HDTV box to watch HDTV shows even though I have a HDTV set with ATSC tuner. That's it until next time.
