Well, I thought I'd be one of the lucky ones. Tech came out today to hook up my modem, install software and get me going.
WELL, 2 out of 3 ain't bad (I guess). NO CONNECTION.
My modem sync's just fine, quickly flashing ready light turns into solid green. But, while trying to connect so that I can establish an account, I get: "PORT DISCONNECTED BY REMOTE COMPUTER." The technician calls tech support, he waits 2 hours to connect, they go over the settings, he's told to connect using the BaNet icon. He gets: "ERROR 629: PORT DISCONNECTED BY REMOTE MACHINE" They give him a trouble ticket number, he's out, I'm crushed.
He gives me two rediculous possible reasons:
#1. Maybe my Linksys Etherfast 10/00 card isn't compatible and maybe I should be using a 3Com card.
#2. The routing settings at the CO may be configured improperly.
So, am I apart of the club now ?
