"What took so long to upgrade my residence to the new system Cablevision?"
"The best bang for your money in NJ, DSL doesn't come close. Well done Cablevision!!!"

From website order to delivery of self-install kit took only one business day. When firmware for Motorola Surfboard SB4100 modem needed upgrade, Engineer88 took care of it for me in less than one day and did so on a Sunday no less. Need I say more? Outstanding. Current download/upload range: 8249/921 to 9016/955. OOL gets 5 out of 5 stars.

UPDATE: As of February, 2003, 10 months without a single glitch.
As of August, 2003, 16 months of mostly A-OK service, however, a major outage (Fri., 8/1-Sat., 8/2) was experienced and the mail server was down most of the day on Sun., 8/10. I hope these are temporary problems that would remain the exception, rather than the rule of OOL's service.
UPDATE: As of May, 2005. OOL's service has deteriorated, download speed is not what it used to be, this issue has affected large areas (If not most and/or all) of the service's territory. The failure to provide customers with the simplest, most sensible advisories PRIOR to conducting service/maintenance is inexcusable in this day and age, the price being charged can no longer be justified considering the more reasonable offers being made by Verizon (DSL.) Poor customer service is Cablevision's achilles' heel, I guess that for a company based in NY, anything better cannot be expected. I can't wait for FIOS.
UPDATE: As of July, 2007. OOL's service reliability has improved, not withstanding a few weeks of unstable DL/UL speeds after the service was bumped to 15/2 from 10/1. A couple of outages were experienced within two weeks of each other in May/June of 2007. Calling Customer Service was an unexpected pleasurable experience, the Newark, NJ CSRs have come a long way from the crappy, former welfare collecting..."I now have to work for my money" attitude and deficient English to an acceptable, professional demeanor. Good training goes a long way, I hope they're being properly compensated for their much improved performance.
UPDATE: As of January 1st, 2009. OOL has been rock solid in performance and reliability, I have not experience a single glitch or problem with the service since my last review and it should be mentioned that there are a lot more customers using the service in my immediate vicinity than was the case when I posted my previous update.
