I have had OOL for 3 years. Most of the problems I have had were with modems, with a self bought Toshiba being the best, I have never had any problems with the service, only being out a couple of minuets at a time. Even though the sales people are flaky, the tech support isn't useless, And of course the great people in the Forum here! The service is basic, fast Internet, and a couple of Email address's. There is of course newsgroups but I never bother with those. There is no backup dial-up but i dont think its needed since the service hardly ever goes down. Overall I think this ISP is the best ISP in the country if you want simple, easy to use Internet with little frills. Highly Reccomended due to reliability and ease of use.
UPDATE: 3/8/03
Still not many problems here, There have been some problems in the past couple of days for connections, pings and slow speeds. It seems I have to keep restarting my Toshiba more than normally, it seems their is alot of errors. It is getting better, must be a phase. Still A+!!
UPDATE: 5/23/03
That phase was short lived, never found a real reason for it, maybe some bad routing on OOL's end, but its back to overall rock solid service, I really havent even needed to restart my modem, have gone for stretches of 3 weeks at least with no problems. Still on cloud 9!
UPDATE: 4/30/04
Well its been another year with No problems whatsoever. I now have 15 computers under one modem and the service performs great, of course the router dosent work as well, but its almost as good.
UPDATE: 10/3/07
Many years of trouble free service. I'm not exactly a power user, but everything I have done, gaming, some casual p2p, streaming media, its all worked without a hitch. Havent had more than 2 or 3 outages, that lasted less than 5 mins. No complaints at all.
UPDATE 7/18/08
Still a happy customer. My self bought Toshiba modem left the building, replaced it with Cablevision provided Motorola with no problem. Was having some signal problems earlier in the summer, but found out it was due to a bad splitter and the horrible wiring in the house. The service is still as reliable as ever. Its fast enough that boost isn't neccessary. Overall still great!
