Update to add that the uptime has been more spotty lately, with FIOS now in my neighborhood it's a bad time for them to be having service outages.

I've had the service since it was offered in oct 2000 and have only had 4 outages that have lasted more than 20mins in that whole time. And only 1 was for more than 2 hours.
At the time I ordered it I was able to just go to the local Wiz and pick up the modem and by the time I went home to plug it in the service was running. Easy install.
I've seen the rates go up from the initial 29.95 to 39.95 to 44.95 since I've had it, and while I don't like the rate increases, when you compare the speed you recieve with Optonline to comparable DSL or other cable packages it really is a value. I regularly recieve 7000/999 speeds.

| To FIOS or not to FIOS Now that Fios TV should be available to you within a month or so, I`ll guess you`ll have to do the math.
Right now FIOS is cheaper at $34.99 for 10/2 which should give you 10,000+/1700+ kbps with a hard wired connection.
Sometimes the promotional offers are even better. | |
