I heard about Optimum Online is the fastest and greatest cable Internet service in the area. They're offering the Optimum Triple Play which includes iO Digital Cable, Optimum Voice, and Optimum Online. All three seem to be pretty good at the moment, but their technicians are HORRIBLE. When I first had my service installed, I couldn't be home during the time that they were available so I had my aunt come upstairs and open the door for the technician. I have a dog so she watched him in the other room. When I arrived home, I saw my room in a complete mess! My folders and papers were all over the floor. I even had my garbage can turned over! I have three computers--one desktop, one Toshiba Satellite laptop, and a Macbook Pro (my precious one). I saw the lid on my Macbook Pro OPEN! My desktop wasn't shut down and it was just a mess! I specifically told the sales representative that I did not want the technician to touch my computer if it was only software that required installation. I could do it myself with no problem and he told me "okay, I'll just tell the tech to leave the software for you when you get home." The guy who came here was obviously an idiot. It took me like 10 phone calls to finally have a supervisor "compensate" me for the damages.

The problem doesn't stop here. I noticed that Optimum Voice was not properly installed to my phone jacks. My phone was only connected to the modem. So I had another technician come over a week later to fix it. I received a call from them several hours before they actually came. The funny thing is that they started speaking to me in Spanish. I was very offended because they didn't even try to speak English first. I mean, come on, we're in the United States! It's time to learn the primary language, you know? Anyway, I come home and let them in and they said they needed someone over 18. I'm about to be a 18 in a couple of months, but their policy stated that someone over 18 needed to be home. So, I call my aunt and have her come upstairs. While she was on her way, one of the techs got a call about some accident. He tells me "Ok, we'll be back in a minute ok? We'll be right back!" About 40 minutes has passed and I already told my aunt to go home because I was already wasting her time. They come back and they're like "Oh, so we can't do it?" I was SO angry and I just told them that I would go back to Verizon and that their tech support is a joke. I can't believe these technicians could be so STUPID and unprofessional. (I called their tech support department and sort of lashed out on the lady. Well, someone had to know.) Ever since then I considered going back to Verizon, but their phone plans suck and they are just too expensive. So far services have been good and I have no complaints except for their dumb technicians. I still didn't get my home wiring done!

You should check into getting FiOS. »www22.verizon.com/content/ConsumerFios

It's so much better than those bad techs.

    Re: FiOS?

It's not available in my area yet and I think the prices are way too high.

    Re: FiOS?

so its the techs fault that he he touched your computer to get you hooked up to the internet?? if it was sucha big deal maybe you should have been there for the inital install. As far as getting the other jacks in your home working with the optimum voice service all you have to do is run a telephone line from the back of the modem to the nearest telephone jack then all the jacks in your apartment will have optimum voice, as long as they were all on one number prior to the ov install.

and how are you paying $100 a month?? unless your including all three services, there is no way you can be paying that just for online.
