Main Point: I've had OOL Since late 04 ( between September - November). Then I had only the 15Mbps [Down] / 2Mbps [Up]. I didn't have a real need for anything more then, but now that I have gotten introduced to a little program called IRC. I started certain jobs that require a decent Upload. So I Upgraded to 30Mbps/5Mbps. When I had it I had an: AMD Duron, 1.5GB on DDR Memory, I was only seeing speed of 14/3. I was quite displeased and almost always assumed it was OOL's fault. Now I feel silly. I upgraded my PC to AMD Athlon X2 4000+, 1GB DDR2 Wintec memory, Now I get my full speed of 30/5 It's all about the upload for me tbh I can care less for the dl. Files not going anywhere. I only say this b/c I want my upload to be able to keep up with the DL
Overall: I still would recommend this product to anyone with Dail-up or Slower DSL and is looking for something with better speeds. I'm paying 59.99 a month for OOL with there Boost Service ( that I may add was free when it first came out ) I guess they saw an opportunity to make some extra cash.
Other Thoughts: I wish they'd offer higher Upload speeds. Atleast 15Mbps. I hear some people also on the OOL network in New Jersey are getting 10Mpbs + Uploads. When I call they tell me the highest they offer is 5. and theres another guy on here that ran speed test and is seeing 50Mbps[Down] / 60Mbps[Upload] . So It's atleast possible. and now with Docisis 3.0 out Within a year or so We should be getting better speeds. ( I wanna believe.)
