"Beats DSL. Good latency."
"I pay for 30/5. I get 15/5. 15 mbps downstream costs $15 less. Why do I pay for 30?"
"Paying for 30/5 is a waste of money on the downstream."

I used to have FIOS, 30/5.
I got this. 30/5
I get 16/5.
Sometimes I get 14/5. The most I've ever gotten is 18/5.
If I used the upload more, I'd keep it, but I am going to downgrade to 15/2, since it's not like I get the 30 I pay for as it is.
The install tech said he'd be here at nighttime. He called me at 1 PM to say he'd be here in 30 minutes. I was in riverdale.
The ups are that, in spite of being lame compared to Brooklyn and Staten Island FIOS, that it beats Verizon DSL into the ground. I'm not going to get anywhere near these speeds with DSL, and the latency is fine at any time of night. When I paid for 30/5 with verizon, I got 3850 KBps down, and 1150 KBps up. When I paid for 20/20, I got 2400 KBps both ways. They never lied.
I am not used to not getting the speeds I pay for. In seven years, this is the first time that has happened to me. I did not have high expectations for cablevision, and they delivered as expected.
I forget the exact monthly rate, and the brand of the modem. It is 1:12 AM, and thought it more important to post my experience without all of the specifics than to not post it at all. Please think twice before ordering 30/5. It's not like FIOS.
UPDATE 10/19/09:
I get 27 mbps down now. Getting better, OOL. Not FIOS good, but good.
UPDATE: 10/28/09
That did NOT LAST!
This is at 9 AM.
