The speed is up, down, side ways, everyday! Never get the speed I should be getting. Modem constantly restarts everyday! They use Modems from 5 years ago. The TV service is the worst. My TV picture is so pixelated, I could be watching a Yankee game in July, and it would look like there was a snow storm in the Bronx! Still referring to my Yankee example, if my picture isn't pixelated, it would look like there is an earthquake in the Bronx. The picture would start jumping like crazy. I finally got fed up with this, I had a SENIOR tech come out, he couldn't fix or figure out what the problem was. Let's move on to the worst phone service in the United States. My wife or I could be on the phone, and the call would just disconnect. THIS SERVICE/COMPANY/EVERYTHING IS TERRIBLE!!!GET FIOS IF YOU CAN! I made the right choice to switch to Fios!

I am finally fed up with Cablevision. I called up Fios and got a much better deal for more! Goodbye Cablevision!

Contemplating a switch back. Fios rates are getting crazy. And it seems CV got their acts together.

Install went well. Had issues with 2 HD boxes. Finally fixed now with a new Samsung Box. SA DVR has to be replaced due to jumping picture. Overall HD quality is the same as Fios. The UI for IO needs a major makeover. Boost + speeds are great. No speed drops, consistently getting 55-67 Mbps download and 8 Mbps upload. The phone is the phone. Very happy thus far.

Went back to Fios b/c some family members were not happy with CV. But now that Optimum is releasing the channel guide and a door to door sales man offered me more for less compared to m current Fios package, I might be coming back to Optimum!

You must live in an anomoly area... If you have the proper wiring in your house and an updated line from the street, then you should be good. Most of the people whining they have bad service are the ones that have wiring from 30 years ago in the house and don't want to pay to have it replaced, or they buy their cable wire at the dollar store and the splitters from Radio Shack. News flash... it MATTERS what wiring people use. And the modems here on Long Island are DOCSIS 3.0 modems, not 5 yr old modems. Cablevision is one of the few companies to deploy DOCSIS 3.0 across most of their footprint. I have Optimum Boost, which is advertised at 30Mbps downstream. As you can see... my speedtest shows 31,506 Mbsp... but I HAVE proper wiring and an updated line from the street. Enjoy your Fios. Hope you enjoy the bill in a year as well. | |

After 1rst and only service call in 10 years
90% of that speed is from ool tech
Old c2d 333x6=2000 stays at 31m if I raise it to 500x8=4000mhz i get 33-37m down.
Win 7 64 tweaked netsh gig switch 8 year old router pci-e intel nics on i7 1356 with 4000uncore {level 3 cache} also helps | |

If you experience the same problem, call up technical support and have a technician come out. Explain to them the problem and ask them if to check the outside wiring. If you are not happy with your hardware, you could always go to the Optimum store and ask them for a newer model box. You problem will not be solved unless you make them aware of it, been persistent always helps!! | |

Rochelle Park, NJ | BS i just read all of your reviews and came to the conclusion that you are so full of it. all of your reviews are vague and generic. you claim you left cablevision last month but you reviewed fios triple play in january. you said you have the 35/35 plan but you posted a speedtest that showed otherwise. you claim to have had u-verse recently but it's not available in NJ. stop posting false reviews just to make yourself feel better by having stupid little icons under your username. sad.

| speed can vary.. it's a cablemodem! My speeds have been farily consistent.. the max is about 59.x megabits down and 8.2x up. These are the upto speeds. Most speedtests show consistent speeds. I haven't had something download at top speed for hours on end, so don't know if it's sustainable @ 59mbit 24/7/365. Also, for some reason, the speakeasy NY test seems to fail regularly under-reporting accutate speeds. The optonline speedtest.net consistently shows (for me) 55-59mbits.. rarely less than that. Some falloff can be from 4 of the channels having interference or weaker signal strength downstream, as I see correctables rise in 4/8 of the channels. However, $44.90 a month vs FIOS $90 for stand-alone 50/25?!?!? This is a no brainer if you don't need massive upload.. and you get the average docsis 3 QOS (which, for now is good). It's more difficult to compare apples to apples on triple play now since the channel lineups are different, voip has taxes & fees, and you pay more & apparently get more broadband speed on the upload with fios. Verizon failed to make the argument of much higher quality when they were offering the similar 15/2 speeds as Optimum online and gouging for POTS over fios... Not really biased.. I loved FIOS when I had it too.. but IMO, now it's too expensive | |
