With OOL.

Off to Verizon again (see other review). Sadly, 8 to 25 megabits upload isn't gonna cut it.. even if it does happen. That and a price cut should've come sooner. If google can offer gigabit for $70.. these giants could offer a piddly little speed upgrade for slightly more than half that price and not make you jump through churn & burn hoops.

Will update this in June when I know what deals exist..

Switched to 50/25 with Optimum again.. this is good for me becasue they've nearly doubled the number of wifi hotspots since 2012
AND many people have smart phones with wifi now as compared with 2012. Price is $44.90, BUT I was a bit miffed that they force customers to pay an install fee of $25-- even if it's not necessary! At least I won one concession.. getting a non-list cablemodem installed. With symmetrical gigabit internet being installed around the country for dirt cheap prices.. it makes our local competitors look greedy and non-innovative. BTW, they missed their installation 3hr window... then sent a truck within 10 minutes of me calling to find out why..

8/16 Last deal 'expired' but still with OOL. Speed upgraded to 60/25 and getting about 67/26 give or take 1-2mbits.
Rumors of faster speeds and tier bumps coming soon. Stay tuned. Verizon's terms of service and prices are still not great
AND they've added new fees and costly barriers to getting service again. Save your 14 page brochure introducing the "NEW" verizon and its wired differently slogan and offer better standalone deals!

I'm still with Optimum. Now that Verizon has $70 gigabit internet they are more willing to cut deals to keep customers without having to go through retention. My deal is not great, but not bad... 100/35 for $50. I have my own modem. The downstream is a bit disappointing.. I get about 110-114 down (over wifi AND ethernet Linksys EA8500 router) and 36-37 up. I was expecting at LEAST 115 on the down consistently.. not getting that. I KNOW some are getting 200mbit for $50 but I may stick it out another 6mos and revisit it. Hurry up and deploy that FTTP!
