I'm big on security. I don't use Wi-Fi (strictly hardwire for me) and with Verizon's ActionTec I could easily turn off the router's Wi-Fi. I can't do that with Optimum Online's Netgear N600 -- either through the router's software or via the router's hardware Wi-Fi On/Off button. I've only had OO for four days, but the online access and speeds have been fairly reliable. If saving money is everything to you, you should consider OO. If you're currently using Fios Triple Play and you are big on security, you might want to think twice about switching to OO's router's always on Wi-Fi, but you'll pay for that peace of mind. As for me, if I knew then what I know now ... I would not have switched.

cablemodem

I thought the cablemodems (docsis 3) are Arris brand, not netgear..
last time I checked netgear n600s did not have cablemodem function built in.. and you can buy your own choice of wired/wireless router..
