i have one choice for broadband service and i use it. i use it a lot. ive had problems, they were all eventually resolved. some in a timely manner, some not. YMMV. been using cable modem since november of 1999. the old @home stuff. wicked fast 8megs down/ 1.2 up.
now comcast offers 8megs down and a paltry 768 up. im not impressed. especially with the traffic shaping policy and bit torrent throttling. im not a pirate, but i like to trade ROIO's. please give us more consistent upload speed i am soooo willing to pay. i will switch to verizon FIOS when/if it ever becomes available here.update:

comcast provides (to me ) all the DL BW i can handle but would gladly take more. i find the DL speed to be adequate for the price. the UPLOAD speed OTOH is PATHETICALLY SLOW. 768k is not enough in this day and age. I am willing to pay more. i have 2 other connections from verizon that i use for uploading and i must say that FIOS kicks my cable connections ass! those connections are 15/2 and it is rock solid. only when comcast and verizon compete in every market equally, will things like the BW disparity even out for all users. if i could get fios here at home, i would. the remote fios connections are better. YMMV... also, comcast reps in first level tech support continue to be the source of constant amusement when called. thanks for the laughs. but the peeps in the lebanon call center are better than others. thanks guys.
