    2009 Update: Still w/ Comcast for ISP & HDTV. Service is solid & speeds have increased. Have had service maybe 2x in the past 2 years for connection issues. Staff have been superbly courteous & helpful. FIOS is soon coming here & we will look at it; frankly it will come down to whoever puts up the best price--however for now, we have no issues w/ comcast isp----for the most part it seems like the gold standard for many folks in this area. btw the billing issue is resolved---we can pay online w/ one-time credit card payments.

    not sure how many years we've had comcast hsi but speed is now the ubiquitous 6mb down/384k up. pretty stable & fast. despite all the assurances we get from comcast staff we STILL CANNOT PAY OUR INVOICE ONLINE. the mom & pop billing system continues.

    At this point we've had Comcast HSI for approaching 4 yrs. I read an old review I wrote & way back then, we were paying $39/mo for 1500/128; now we're paying $42.95/mo for 6000/384---not a bad change. Overall the service has been rock solid stable. The very few times we've seen an outage or had a speed problem, Comcast was pretty snappy getting a truck here to check things. From my perspective Comcast presents an excellent value for the money. Certainly they're not the cheapest out there but as one learns in life, sometimes you get what you pay for. Having said that, Verizon's DSL lite @ $14.95 & upcome FIOS in this area is having a the huge effect of keeping Comcast aware of pricing structures-- which ultimately benefits the consumer. In a nutshell, we're quite pleased with the value that Comcast presents with HSI. BTW, the no-online-bill-pay comments means that in this area, we were a mom & pop cable operation that Comcast purchased. While most Comcast customers nationwide can go online to pay their monthly cable bill, this simple service is not available here---we must either mail a check (how archaic!!!) or call Comcast & navigate the dreaded IVR from hell system just to get a person. For years now they've been saying they'll fix this but as of Oct 2005, 4 years later, still no go.
