Well another update here. After having Comcast VoIP for about two years, I can say I haven't had any trouble with it. Getting it installed was a BIG hassle, two 3 different installers to finally figure it out, but they eventually got it.

I run two modems in my house. One for internet and one for phone. Since my phone doesn't arrive in my 'network closet' (a real closet with a shelf for modem & router) i have to separate them. Comcast decided that one modem wasn't necessary, so they shut down my internet access. I figured out what they'd done and tried to explain why I had two modems, asked if it was some sort of T&C violation (it wasn't), they said they'd enable it back again. As soon as they did that our phone call went 'click' and I spent a few more hours getting it back online.

Besides those hiccups, I really don't have a problem. After all, it's not like I'm expecting 99.99999% uptime and immediate response to any issue for > Just got the comcast DVR. Love it, even though it is a bit flaky once in a while.

Let's see, it started out as Road-Runner, then became ATTBI, now is Comcast. Aside from virtually annual changes in ownership (and domain names...meaning I have to get yet another e-mail address) the service from Comcast has been fairly standard. Outages are rare (which is more than I can say for the BellSouth accounts I've dealt with). I did set up a website for some testing and then for a weekend I couldn't access it. They submitted a problem ticket and apparently fixed it, but failed to notify me in any way. Most problems that crop up I can fix on my own, so I deal with their tech support as little as possible. I do like the fact that the have eliminated the need for MAC provisioning. I run a wireless network and VPN over that, as well as NetOp remote control for other pc's and have had no problems. Speed runs between 1500 - 2500 down and a flat 250 up. Dynamic IP rarely changes. Don't rent their equipment (it's cheap...buy your own!). Four stars out of five. Yes, I would recommend them to a friend. When it was ATTBI, I had all the services bundled, which was nice.
