(ratings match consensus)

Having subscribed back to February 1999 I have been with these companies through what is their 4th. buy out with rates steadily increasing...
Infrastructure that is STILL not keeping pace with the new subscriber base... and now with Comcast the reliability and consistency of of speeds has dramatically fluctuated as the (penalty) for non Cable TV subscribers has escalated.
Amending and updating my ratings after the March 2005 "upgrade" where service has had the worst decline since the ATTBI take over of @ Home...
    Updating Again: 7/2006:
Comcast had another "rocky" roll-out of their new tiers now locally @ silver: 6mbs/368 and gold 8mbs/764 ... since I still don't need any of their "other" services I'm rather stuck paying $66 for the gold tier ... amid rumors that this tier will again slowly roll out an upgrade to a 16mb/1mb hopefully by year's end knowing the trickle down towards California from the Eastern test markets...

Also this new "gimmick" called Power-Boost seems mostly aimed on defeating any Broadband Speed Test... by not giving a real constant speed snapshot.
It might move faster in some of the Verizon FIOS areas that Comcast has had to be more competitive in.

    Updating 3/2008
Ok the "Blast" finally hit with a 16 mb down and 3 mb up in this area in early 2008 ..
BUT as above it has been a very rocky roll out once again ... outages galore ...
terrible latency ... and in a word once again inconsistent ...
I can't imagine anyone having their phone service depending on Comcast ...
(Which by the way they keep bugging me via telemarketers to sign up for) ..
