    11-25-07 Update

    Not much to add here...I haven't had any connection problems with comcast...

    I started with their 3MB/256K tier...then about a year later they bumped me up to 4MB tier service at no additional cost...then they bumped me up another tier to 6MB again no additional cost...an have been surfing fine at about 5.4MB downloads.. so far so good, still only use cable and internet with out phone service side..no land line service of any sort, still just using my cell phone for local/long distance calls.

    Switched from Bellsouth Fastaccess DSL, after being with them for a few years, just wanted higher speed as well as to get rid of my landline and just use cell phone for regular calls.

    Time to order to time to install. 7days not bad at all..

    Since i already have digital cable in my home, tech only had to cut a length of cable from the wall jack to the modem, i already had win-xp[home] and he opened the browser, went to the comcast web site to setup my modem, all done in about 5-10 minutes when he got here...

    week later, electrical storm appeared to killed my motorola surfboard modem, modem wouldn't power up at all, even tried on a different outlet..modem appeared to ahve taken a power surge through the cable[as the electrical plug is on a UPS]...this was on a sunday night @1am...called support, they advised they could send out a tech at around 9am in the morning..that morning! I said sure..and arround 9:30a..tech showed up..replace the modem, the original power supply is still working fine...modem got fried over the cable line...

    all in all...up to this point..I'm very impressed with both the speed and service...I haven't had to call there tech support cept for the dead modem issue..so Comcast gets high praise from me so far...

    I didn't purchase there modem, i lease it...sure its $3 extra a month...but they will come out and replace it for free instead of charging me for a service call and replacement of the physical modem...so that service call cost me nothing at all!
