UPDATE:
I have recently been upgraded several months ago as far as the upload speed is concerned. Current speeds as of now read 13362 kbps down and 1593 kbps up. Can't really complain about that. Just as long as there are no price increases in the near future, I'm happy. There is the occasional dropped connection, but that is far and few between.
I recently left Earthlink for Comcast. We currently have Comcast digital phone and TV, so cable internet service from Comcast was bound to happen. The problem with Earthlink, was that for the 4 years that I was with them, and 3 of those years that I had dsl, I had only one speed. It was the 1500-384 speed package. After some price increases from Earthlink, going up to almost 52.00 for that speed, enough was enough. I did not get ANY speed increases from EL, only price increases over 4 years. I switched over to Comcast high speed cable. I currently have the silver package and get speeds of 8400 down and 390 up. I pay 42.00 a month for this and this is way better than EL speeds and pricing. I have not had any problems with the service yet. I only had to wait 3 days from ordering the service for my self install kit to arrive. This service uses dynamic IP, but is always on, from the moment the PC is booted up to shut down. The order kit came with the SB5100 cable modem and the great thing about this modem is that when I'm away from the pc, just pressing a switch on top of the modem will disconnect me from the net for added protection. Ordering went smoothly, installing went smoothly and so far the service is running smoothly, esp on Comcast's pop-smtp servers for email.
