UPDATE: I've had some signal issues and if it wasn't for a forum member and Comcast tech named CableTool who helped I don't know if my connection would have been working by now. Everything has seemed quite good since the signal issue got resolved. Tech support continues to suck hardcore and if you're lucky you might get one of those good techs out there but I'd rather not have to play that game to get something fixed.
I also downgraded recently to $43 6/384Kbps tier due to me not needing the upload as much as in the last months anymore. I also have placed an order for DSL so I should be fine now.
UPDATE: The customer support just doesn't know how to ****ing fix a damn simple signal issue. Hey geniuses, I'm tellling you the damn problem. How about you lazy assholes come to my house and fix it?
I ordered 4Mbps/384Kbps package around late January of 2005. I do a lot of online gaming so about 3 months later I decided to upgrade to the "Gold Tier" or faster speed as Comcast puts it in my bill. The new package was 6/768Kbps and my speed remained great with advertised speeds or higher. Late August of 2005 Comcast upgraded its speeds: 4400/384Kbps to 6600/384Kbps and 6600/768Kbps to 8800/768Kbps so I had a nice download speed of above 1MB/s now.
I wouldn't really recommend Comcast though unless you are a power user in which case the speeds it provides are quite good however for gamers they should factor in the ping times. They are incredibly unstable.

I have had a 1 ft. piece of rg-59 poly cable cause high ping rates. Also going through a router that has had the MTU packets changed or also Zone Alarm being misconfigured. You need to be more specific when complaining. | |

It isn't on my end. Why do you think I included in my review? If it was my computer or my equipment I would have troubleshooted it in mere seconds and had it fixed. I have never had a problem on my end with HSI because I didn't just get on a computer. I have been using a computer for ~11yrs and I have been using HSI since 2000. I know when it is my problem and when it isn't. | |
