When I moved from Penna. to MD back in January, I wanted to continue the same Comcast service I had originally. I was told I could not simply transfer my account from Penna. to MD and I had to apply as a new customer in MD. No big deal.
The tech is late, however, he was able to get the connection going (even after he tried to run the Comcast setup CD in my m0n0wall router box). The second tech I had later for HDTV setup tried to tell me 480i was "HDTV" when I knew it was not (I had 1080i service previously). He also did not know how to configure the Comcast Silver Box to change the output type.
During the 8 months I had the service, I only had 2 major outages that were on Comcast's end. The Motorola cable modem I purchased died on me about a month after I bought it, but that isn't Comcast's problem. They were kind enough to furnish me with a replacement modem while mine was out for warrenty repair.
As I bought a house outside of Montgomery County, MD, I was unable to transfer my Comcast service once again, so I ended up having to cancel my service as of 08/31/2006. Even though I confirmed the cancellation, I was still billed for 09/06 to 10/06. It took another call to get this charge taken off my final bill.
Overall, I would say Comcast in Montgomery County, MD is excellent once you have everything up and running.
