    4-2007

After dial-up anything is faster. I love the fact that Comcast is pretty much everywhere and that even though it is my only option it is a good one. Cable has an advantage over DSL and is much faster and better. After waiting for years for my telco to get us DSL (Even though its down the road both ways) they have yet to succeed. Not to mention their crappy attitude toward getting it. I'm quite contempt with my connection and the speed even though its not quite up to the advertised speed.

    6-2007

I decided to switch to cable T.V. this month. I found out that I was only on a 4 megabyte tier and that was the reason for the speed test results. I also had the new tap put in and my up time has been better than the month prior. I will be receiving 6 megabytes in two days when they come to install the cable T.V.

I am quite happy with the service but not so satisfied with the amount of information on the sale and reasons behind comcast's network.

    7-2007

I'm quite happy with the T.V. service out here in the N/W Indiana area not to mention the awesome powerboost speeds I get on a frequent basis. I do get all 6 meg sometimes better and powerboost has me going up into the 30 meg range as well. Upload powerboost is great and average 1.5 meg upload to pretty much any server.

The install was slightly sloppy by the tech... which I had to correct. We also found out the tap that was installed was faulty when we got the T.V. on there. So within 24 hours a line tech had to come out again and get me a new tap.

    Update 7-2007

Went under the house and added some analog T.V.'s to the setup. I'm quite happy with the analog signal, as its quite clear. I also seen powerboost this week spring above 40 meg. So overall I'm quite happy with the service Comcast provides.

    11-2007

Been a while since I updated my experiance using comcast. I feel that their digital services have been subpar at best because the motorola boxes are very slow at switching channels and sometimes i lose picture. On demand is a plus but with a PVR i don't see the need. My analog signal is still good and am quite happy. Internet is still blazing at speeds of powerboost at 25-45 mbps. Other than the digital im quite happy with everything else comcast provides.

I'm still considering CDV so we will see!

    10-2008

Good service still some tap issues... I got a DVR recently. I like it a lot. Service tech's often really dont know what they're doing. Thats ok though it all seems to get fixxed after a while. Been happy with the service so far. I recommend comcast unless something like FIO's or Uverse is in the area. Other than that its a great service. I still only have T.V. and HSI. I dont want CDV because then I'd have to switch the number... Had it for too long to do that now...

    Tweaked yet?

Since you say you aren't receiving advertised speed, I'd like to know, have you tweaked your settings yet?

    Re: Tweaked yet?

Yeah, I tweaked the connection the reason for the slow speeds is the tap is old and I need a new one ran. Not because of my settings. Thanks though

    Speeds

Comcast doesnt guarentee your speed. You will probley never get advertised speeds ever. You see with cable internet you share bandwidth with every one in your area, at least thats what I learned in my Networking 112 class at Henry Ford Community college.

I have been with comcast for over 5 years. There service is good. There are ways to tweak your connection but dont expect to get 6Mbps every single day.

Interesting, I get these results pretty consistently from my 6/384 tier.

I realize that the speeds are not guaranteed. However, the speed that I was receiving was 4 meg+. And my tier is 4 meg. So actually I'm receiving 100% of my bandwidth now. And I hope to receive 100% when I'm upgraded to a 6 meg tier in two days.

And considering these results were on a 4 meg tier I'd say I get all my bandwidth...

    Re: Speeds

Of course you guys are lucky. Here in Romulus you have Dialup or comcast. There are DSL providers however most of Romulus is not covered. Many are force to go to comcast. My friend lives right by the comcast node for the area he lives in, 30 people just got hooked up in the area and his speeds just dropped like a sack of potatoes. But for the most part as long as people are not on you should get the max bandwidth and speed possible.

    New Speeds

    W/O Powerboost

    @comcast.net

Where are these 31mb speeds coming from???

Comcast only offers a max of 8mb up, at least that's all here in Fort Lauderdale. Are those speeds for Fois (fiber) connections or do they offer speeds that fast over regular cable?

Re: Where are these 31mb speeds coming from???

I'm on a 6 meg tier. Those are just powerboost speeds. It eventually slows down to 6 meg and often I sustain better speeds than that.

Re: Where are these 31mb speeds coming from???

Thanks for your reply, but come to think of it, I NEVER see any such powerboost here with Comcast, it's like they don't have it running in South Florida ( even though I have to sit and watch those commercials over and over and over). As usual, Comcast never seems to put stuff out evenly accross the board.
