As a former DTV owner I was put off by Cables HSI pricing for stand alone Internet. DSL was fine for 6 years, but slowly degraded. When Cable Digital Phone service was made available, along with HDTV programing and HSI speed increases blowing past DSL I made the jump, I am very happy with the experience so far (I've now had it for 2+years), including the transfer from Time Warner to Comcast.
If you can get the triple play in your area I strongly suggest you give it a whirl... I'm glad I did!

UPDATE: I have since dropped to Internet Only. Comcast wanted to raise my fee $30 per month simply for moving 1 block. Apparently I was on a grandfathered rate from Time-Warner.
I am currently paying $69.95 for Performance Plus Internet, using my own Motorola 6120.
