Well, this so far has been a great service, although it has only been a week! I came from Sprint Mobile Broadband, where at the best from house, I could get maybe 1000 kbs down, and something like 200 up... Speed test last night was around 16000 down and 2000 up.. I am on the 6/768 tier, and have 2 laptops running off one wireless router (Linksys WRT150N).
I must say, that I have had Comcast Cable for a while, but never thought it would be this fast! I was paying 60 plus a month for the Sprint card, and actually had gotten a 2nd one for my girlfriend, so that was 120, for not even half of the speed!!! I would never do that again!!
I have the Motorola Surf Board modem, and its hooked through the wireless router we have.
The only bad things have happened with the new apartment we moved in to, so no need to vent about them here!
UPDATE: This has now been 9 months and we have only had 1 problem.. The tech came out to disconnect serivce for a neighbor (apartment building) and they disconnected ours at the trap. The guy was nice, and actually came back right after we called (like 8pm) to make sure we were back up and running,
Speed has been consistant and improves every once in a while, but no sign of Blast at all. Powerboost works well most of the time, with Peek times being the exception, of course.
No real problems, so I am a happy customer for Comast
UPDATE: 12/01/08 We had Comcast at our old apartment for about 14 months, until we moved out. We did not have anyproblems, accept the one listed above. It was always on, never had any issues, and lag time improved by reading and learning things here on the forums of DSLReports.
We recently moved, and hooked up Comcast just last week. We have another Motorola Surfboard Modem (I requested it due to the good luck I had with it at the other place) and it's been rock solid for a week! We still have a router (Linksys WRT150N) and its running 3 laptops, and a PS3 and doing awesome. Gaming is not an issue, and the laptops can all run quite well at the same time! I never though it would be this great having online gaming (my first time other than PSP) and to have the Laptop's downloading/uploading/surfing the internet at the same time with no issues on any machine is amazing to me!
I would not want to give this up for anything!
Update: We moved once again, was in an unserviceable area, and now moved back to the Comcast area. We have an RCA Modem, which has not been to bad, but I am not familiar with it to say weather its good or not. We have Digital cable as well, and its been working very well. I have always been happy with Comcast, and being its my only choice for true high speed, thats good for me. I do alot of gaming on my PS3 and its been very reliable, no major lagging in the games, and the the chat functions work like i'm on a normaly phone call (not sure if thats the game, the connection, or both).
