I came to Comcast after moving to Florida from Oklahoma, where I had been on the Cox system. All in all, it is fairly similar, though the speed is slower - 8000/768 vs. 9000/1000 on Cox. The installation went smoothly, and the techs were knowledgeable and courteous. They recognized I wasn't a computer noob and dispensed with the usual hand holding talk they give.
I have had some problems at the two residences I've lived in during the 16 months I've lived here, but most of the time Comcast tech support was pretty good about checking out and fixing the trouble. In my current residence I was having terrible problems with a dropped connection where the modem would remain synced up. The problem required multiple visits to my house, and eventually (with my gentle insistence) an escalation to a senior tech. In the end, he had to pass it on to the network engineers, and eventually it was repaired to my satisfaction.
During the escalation process I was promised several call backs -they never occurred. Honestly, I never expected them to, which is a pointed commentary on customer service these days and how well our expectations have been lowered by big companies.
Their billing department, however, is the worst I've ever dealt with. My monthly charges kept changing even though I'd made no changes to my service, and after hours on the phone trying to get it sorted they finally admitted that the Adelphia transition had caused some major problems with their billing system. The admission didn't alter the fact that my bills were still coming in at wildly inconsistent rates, a problem that is ongoing even today, almost a year after they started.
For billing support, Comcast gets a big fat zero from me.
